Sua m\u00e3e, Celeste, percebendo o potencial da filha em arranjar um casamento vantajoso em fun\u00e7\u00e3o de sua rara beleza, prende Maria a um cruel destino, o de noivar e se casar com Jo\u00e3o Guilherme, o filho do rico patr\u00e3o do seu marido. Esta predestina\u00e7\u00e3o ao casamento como \u00fanica op\u00e7\u00e3o de vida percorre toda a inf\u00e2ncia e adolesc\u00eancia de Maria, tirando dela qualquer sentido de vida e de identidade. Mas \u00e9 percept\u00edvel que ela n\u00e3o se encaixa neste modelo. Tanto \u00e9 verdade que, ao adentrar a juventude, ciente de seu papel de marionete nas m\u00e3os abusivas da m\u00e3e, Maria tenta se rebelar. Mas, ao se rebelar, revela-se a si mesma suas fragilidades humanas de um ser mal\u00a0constru\u00eddo. Se tiver a sorte de se libertar da m\u00e3e, ela ter\u00e1\u00a0necessariamente que se refazer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Maria seems to have won from life only one attribute: beauty.\u00a0Her mother, Celeste, realizing her daughter\u2019s potential to arrange an\u00a0advantageous marriage in function of her rare beauty, keeps Maria to\u00a0a cruel destiny, which is to engage and to marry with Jo\u00e3o Guilherme,\u00a0the son of the rich boss of Celeste\u2019s husband. This predestination to\u00a0marriage as the only option of life follows Maria\u2019s all childhood and\u00a0adolescence, taking from her any sense of life and identity. However,\u00a0it is perceptible that she does not fit in this model. So much it is true\u00a0that, when entering the youth, aware of her role of puppet in the\u00a0abusive hands of her mother, Maria tries to rebel herself. However,\u00a0when she rebels, it is revealed to herself her human weaknesses of a\u00a0poorly built being.
